Exhibition “Nessebar and the Bay on old maps” (4th-19th century) The exhibition was opened inside Christ Pantokrator Church in the old Nessebar on 12th April. It was realized by “Ancient Nessebar” Museum with the support of International Commercial and Cultural Centre GEOPAN and the use of “Thrace” digital archive. The artistic arrangement was designed by the painter Georgi Gyonev. Eighteen maps dating from 4th to 19th century are shown at the exhibition. They illustrate the lasting interest of Europe in Southeastern Europe and particularly in the Black Sea coast and Nessebar. The maps are from different branches of cartography: road maps, sea maps, continental maps, historical maps, commercial maps. The exhibition is opened for visitors every day till the end of October.
A delegation from Nessebar, led by the Mayor Nikolay Dimitrov visited the town of Safranbolu, Turkey, at the invitation of the Mayor of Safranbolu, d-r Nezhdet Aksoy The purpose of the visit was to sign the agreement on popularizing cultural tourism and developing cooperation between the two municipalities. Both sides agreed to encourage current and future development of the relations between Nessebar and Safranbolu in the field of culture, history, tourism and sport. The cooperation between Nessebar and Safranbolu, both included in UNESCO Heritage List dates from 2001, when representatives from this Turkish town came to Nessebar and took part in International Symposium on preservation of World Heritage towns in Southeastern Europe.
Chinese investors have shown interest in Nessebar Municipality
A Chinese delegation from Shanghai, led by representatives of ACN Worldwide, the biggest property investment company in China, visited Nessebar to explore the opportunities for investment in Nessebar and the region and for turning the ancient town into a popular holiday place among Chinese tourists. The guests were interested in Nessebar as a tourist destination. They had already started talks with Bulgarian Ministry of Transport for developing charter flights from Shanghai to Bulgaria. If implemented it could create conditions for thousands of Chinese tourists visiting Bulgaria and the Black Sea coast every year.
Children and adolescents from United Municipal School of Arts in Nessebar took part in 12TH National Folklore Competition
Children and adolescents from United Municipal School of Arts in Nessebar took part in 12TH National Folklore Competition “ Orpheus spring” in the town of Stara Zagora and came back with prestigious awards. They competed in the categories “Folk singing – solo performance” and “Dance formations, chamber dance groups and folklore ensembles”. Mladen Gorenov won the golden prize, Radka Zeliamova and Iveta Gocheva – bronze prize. They all are trained by Nelly Taneva, folk singing master at the School of Arts in Nessebar.
